Security.
Yes, I agree there has to be a system and it has to be adhered to by all residents, no matter what . The guards should not be intimadated by residents who think they are above the rules. Many a time I have seen car drivers argue with the guards to be let in when they don't have their cards .
Having said that there should really have been a canopy installed at the time of instalation of the card entry system as we do get soaked if we open the car window during a storm ... every other condo I have visited in K.L has a canopy . his is a different issue tho!
I think it has already been suggested that the unit numbers should be removed from the car park walls ... why is there the need to have them labeled ... as a resident I know which is my space. However in the case of the latest break in it was obvious which unit to target ... it was spelt out for them !
I have also heard that the newspaper delivery man is given cards to gain entry to the units ... how is this allowed ? Is it imposible for those taking delivery to walk the 20 metres from the lift to their post boxes?
Futhermore I am appauled that todays letter re the recent break ins has been sent to all residents . The publication of personal emails is inappropriate and I really wish I had not read it . I think an apology to those concerned is needed.
With regard to the white doors from the courtyards, it really doesn't bother me that I have to carry my card with me as I have to carry my keys when I go out anyway ... however in most of the blocks they are actually useless as they can be pulled open by a strong person and if someone wanted to get in to the lift lobby they could easily jump over the side where the air con units are .... they don't solve the problem.
The underlying theme is that if the guards are allowed to do their jobs to the high standard that management expects of them then the risk should be reduced . But it needs the co-operation of those residents who think they are better, more important people who think they can over-rule security . This is when the system breaks down.

Additional, simple security measures
While i appreciate and acknowledge the improvements done by the mgt recently- passcard for entry, change of security company, however, I would also like to provide some feedback and suggestions on how we can make Sri Murni a safer home to be in.
For most residents who are a stay home mother, stay home boss/employee, students, I am sure there were incidences where you see foreign man lurking or walking pass your vicinity. I personally experienced this many times and will always have 2 thoughts:
1. He must be one of the workers working for a renovation in one of the units or,
2. He must be one of the repair workers for the condo
And naturally, some of us would have call up the guard house to check. What if other residents do not? And how many calls does a guard needs to attend to everyday for the same Q&As?
Here are some suggestions for your consideration:
1. All visitors car must be registered and parked at visitors bay. there should be no exception of cars w/o stickers in the residents place, as much explained by Sam's note earlier
2. All ad hoc foreign workers must put on a tag or some sort of identification to indicate that they have registered and presence are fully aware by the guards. (for eg, the domestic workers are all in uniform). Residents will be ensured and to a certain - at eased.
Thank you for your time and hope you will consider the above suggestions.

Basic Security Measures at Sri Murni are not being followed
Back to Basics
In light of the latest break-in here at Sri Murni and the extra measures that are being thought up designed to step up security, I believe that the fundamentals are being missed out on. A simple drive up from my car park and already I see 6 cars without stickers on. It is a very simple job for Management to walk around the parking bays – make a note of the cars that do not have stickers and the apartments that they belong to and contact those responsible. Excuses can be made that people change their cars regularly, but how long does a trip to the office take. Why not add the Reg numbers to existing sticker and just peel off. Surely you cannot have more cars than parking spaces? We are not on a busy road – thieves will come by car.
When things go wrong everyone blames the guards for not being vigilant, but at these times when there seems to be a high changeover of security staff – it is even more important that you give them the means to do their jobs. Either a car has a Sri Murni Sticker or a visitors plate – otherwise – what are they doing in here? The guards should have a fixed rule with no exceptions. Empower the guards to do their jobs. You forget your sticker – you park on the street, after all when you lose your parking ticket – you have to go to the office to get out of a car park. You don’t have a security card to get in or especially out of SM or a sticker? – go to the office.
There will always be a way to break in for the determined thief, but if the basic security is not there, then it becomes more of an open invitation. If you are reading this and do not have the above, please do us all a favour and take the time to sort it out. You will be the first to complain if like me, you have a break in.
